Unofficial Facebook Home On Any Android Device - Experiment Pinoys

Apr 15, 2013

Is your phone not compatible with the new Facebook Home App? This will guide you on how to install it on your android device. But use it at your own risk.

Unofficial Facebook Home On Any Android Device

Last Friday April 12, Facebook pushed their new app in the Android Market. But this application only runs on the following units: Samsung's Galaxy S III, S 4, Note II and the HTC One, One X+.

But a brilliant person, Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo made a simple way to run Facebook Home on any android device. He was able to patch the Home app so that it will not read the device which the app will be installed on.

What do you do if you want to install the Facebook Home App on your non supported device? (Again, use this at your own risk, I will not be liable if problems occur during installation.) If you are a brave soul and has the experience of installing custom ROM on your android device then this is for you.

1. Go to your device settings. (SECURITY section)
2. Set your device to Install Applications From Unknown Sources
3. Download and install the following: (a) Patched Facebook App; (b) Patched Messenger App and finally (c) Patched Home App.

Note: If you already have the main Facebook App and the Messenger App then you have to uninstall it first.

4. Sign in to Facebook.
5. In the Facebook application's 'Settings' menu the Facebook Home option should appear for you!

However, some manufacturers already installed a rooted version of Facebook and you cannot uninstall it. If you can root your device, you have the ability to remove the Facebook app. After removing it, you can then install the above mentioned apps.

Preliminary ratings on the Facebook Home App were low. There were news that the Messenger app on your device cannot send SMS messages. Which means YOU CANNOT TEXT if you have this installed. This patch will provide you a peek before Facebook Home is released to other Android devices of the world.
