As a start, I want to clear things up. What is meant by an Achievement Test?
According to education.com, an Achievement Test is a test of knowledge or proficiency based on something learned or taught. The purpose of an achievement test is to determine student's knowledge in a particular subject area. Achievement tests are often administered by the state to measure specific areas of learning such as math, reading, writing, science, and social studies.
Thus, the National Achievement Test (NAT) is aimed to test pupils knowledge in the different subjects. The subjects I am pertaining to are the following: Filipino, Mathematics, English, Science and HeKaSi (Heograpia, Kasaysayan at Sibika). The said test was to be answered in 3 hours and 50 minutes.
I was assigned to be a room examiner in East City Central School, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. This school is under the division of Cagayan de Oro City, Region 10.
The exam materials came at around 7:30 AM. We were given a brief orientation on what to do and we were sent to the different rooms where the grade six pupils were ready.
While proctoring the test, I had some difficulty in following the instructions written on the manual. The room supervisors told us to do things that were not in the manual or do things in the manual not explicitly stated by the supervisors. Anyways, I just made a flexible decision to do what I think would be right without breaking any rules.
Towards the end of the test, some pupils were already fidgety to go. But I stood my grounds and made them stay. In sum, the experience of being a room examiner was quite good. In addition to this, the pupils were very responsive and were well behaved.
For the administration of East City Central, it was a pleasure working with you and your pupils. I wish you good luck.
