Camaman-an at Dawn

I went out of the house at about 5 in the morning. My goals were to have a walk around our barangay and to break a little sweat.

My aunt then said buy some pandesal, so I brought 10 pesos with me.

I have noticed the tranquility around and so I took my phone and shot the scene.

I hope we take time to see the calmness of things before we drown into the sea of busy work and tedious school.

6.2 Earthquake in Mindanao

A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Saturday triggering panic, but there were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.

The quake struck at 12:37 pm (0437 GMT), off the coast, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) northeast of the town of Sarangani, said the government seismology institute.

Residents said people rushed out of buildings in panic after the quake sent lighting fixtures swaying.

Act of God? Lightning After Pope's Resignation

Monday's (Feb. 11) surprising announcement by Pope Benedict XVI that he was resigning from the papacy struck some observers like a bolt out of the blue.

And a few hours later, an actual bolt of lightning struck St. Peter's Basilica, the centerpiece of the Vatican and one of the holiest sites in Christendom, NBC News reported.

Was the lightning strike, coming just hours after Pope Benedict's announcement, evidence of God's wrath, or some ominous sign from above? Perhaps, but it was more likely the natural result of a rainstorm that was passing over Rome at the time.

Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.

Senatorial Election this May.

But from my average Filipino's perspective, campaigning already started last year.

Pope Benedict Steps Down

When I heard this on television I was really shocked. On February 28, the highest ranking official of the Roman Catholic Church will vacate the pontificate.

Reasons for this were mainly due to health and old age. I am sad that the papacy will be vacant again. I just remembered my catechism lessons about the pope and how they are chosen.

My First Dividend from a Cooperative

This is a photograph of my first ever dividend from a cooperative. Even if it only reads Php 200, it is a good start.

I have joined this cooperative last June 2012 and good thing I received something from them.

But I have some questions about cooperatives:

An Hour with God

Here are three things I have found out.

1. The subject of your email will become the title of your post.

2. Attaching photos to the email you sent will be posted directly to your blog.

2. HTML Tag <div> is not rendered properly. It just appears as text.

Recommendations:
1. Try posting a whole HTML structure to your posts. From the opening
<html> tag to </html>. Maybe it will render correctly.
2. Try other html tags.
