Deletesun does offer this, I got mine an hour ago. Pretty much basic stuff, Though it's a little annoying how I can't reduce the number of home screen, and some other stuff other phones could personalize. by far I'm not loving it as much I loved my HTC explorer installed with custom rom cyanogenmod 10. Not saying it's better, Maybe I just need some time to adjust.

sa batt naman medyo me sakit din sya tulad ng ibang android dyan. run ko yung calbration mga 10 hours lang batt nya. naka on wifi + data. running gmail twitter facebook saka call and txt paminsan minsan. ang masaya pa pang subrang init ng batt merong prompt na patayin sya.
so yun lang kayo na maghusga..

from camera adjustment it has an 8 mega pixel camera not 5M.
IPS screen is questionable , I think it is not IPS.screen. pixel resolution 480 x 800.

DeleteGot the same phone from sun last week. Sakit sa ulo yung battery. Bilis mag low batt. Seriously, sobrang nag-sisi ako after. 100% after 4 hours, dead batt. kada minute, bawas sa % ng batt. :/ Di pa naka on yung wifi ko or anything Hay.

ReplyDeleteOk tong phone na to. I got mine from sun 2 days ago. At first the plan was ibebenta ko sya but when I used it, di ko inexpect na magugustuhan ko sya so di ko na binenta.. SUPER BILIS NIYA, MAGANDA PA RESOLUTION NG SCREEN so far pwede ko I-compare ang speed Nya sa apple products... Kasi I have iPad 3 and and itouch Pareho Lang ang speed pag dating sa apps and sa pagbrowse never pa naglag.. Pero ang batt syempre the usual... Madali madrain depende sa gamit mo pero hindi problem yun Kung meron kang extra batt or portable charger na handy..

ReplyDeleteSun gave me my free Alcatel Soleil a few days ago. It's a great phone with very good camera and memory capacity. I'm a heavy mobile internet user and I must say this unit has not disappointed me one bit. Resolution is also great. Downloading and using apps has never been a problem.

Deleteilang days na rin dumaan. nanotice ko lang para rin syang HTC one V (one that i lost) walang deterioration ng speed. pag fastboot 10 secs lang pwede ng gamitin. isa pa rin ang hinanakit ko. walang way para maroot ito. can use dev apps. sana ilabas sya sa open market.

mkakakuha agad ng fone s sun pag ipa auto charge s creditcard for 2 yrs. gling ako sm manila kgbi pra mgpahupa ng baha, npadaan aku s sun kya ngsubmit aku ng 2 valid ids and payslip, pnkita ko dn ung credit card ko. dey ask me if i want to auto chrge the plan i want, snce 350 lng nman pumayag na aku, ngfill up lng aku form approved n gad. this plan is 30 mos holding period pro sulit kc available ndn ung trio, unlitxt s sun, smart & talk n txt.

ReplyDeleteGanda ng Soleil, got this phone 2 days ago, smooth sa games, tapos responsive pa yung screen. no problem with the performance. yung battery lang talaga,di aabot nang 12 hours.

how is it when it comes to gaming? Enaf po ba yung 1ghz nya at 512ram para sa mga high res na games gaya ng 2k13, tekken, need for speed, etc.? Maraming salamat po sa magrereply :)

Napa try ko sa ibang mas maliit yung daliri, ganun talaga. May problem kaya unit ko?

Deletekill all the background apps manually that is running, go to setting > application > select the apps that is running click force stop .
soleil.. matagal na sila gumagawa mobile phones alcatel... year 2000 pa ko unang nakakita nyan hugis safeguard pa.. haha.. at matibay.. no need to root na... stay legal na lang..

ReplyDeletegot mine from sun nung monday thru loyalty,so lucky kc 6 months pa lang aku nka-line tpos they had a promo na kpg 6 months ka na with sim-only plan without cut/delayed payments they'll give you the loyalty phone na promo, which is till september if im not mistaken... ok nman xa the phone is really responsive, d ku na kailangan mgdownload nung ibang apps kc when i got it the guy from the sun shop installed the apps that i needed... battery? mine lasted for more or less fourteen hours, with calls, texts and games etc.. tpos the cam, ok naman xa, i don't expect too much kc it's a phone camera, but i think it's more than what is advertised. un lang i can't find any accessory cover.. need ko pa nman kasi medyo on the go ung job ku, i hate scratches on my devices... but all in all the performance is good, would really appreciate kung mas mataas ung battery nya... pero can't complain if it's free, better na xa kesa dun sa ibang offered nung plan which has lower specs...

Nagcopy and paste lng ako galing dun sa isang nagcomment, curious lng, nalalaro ba tlga ung NBA2k13 dito sa phone na 'to? i have Cloudfone Thrill 430g and it's the same GPU Type compare to Soleil, naginstall ako ng NBA2k13 sa phone ko pero hindi ko naenjoy dahil hindi kaya ng GPU, sobrang lag. yun lng, feel ko hindi to ganon kaganda pagdating sa games lalo pag HD games. pinagpipilian ko pa kasi kung Soleil ba o CM Burst kukunin ko from Sun, sabi nila 2-3 days pagprocess dahil nagupgrade lng ako ng plan.

Useless din itong mga battery saver appss..pinapatay niya pero sandali lang at bumabalik din..
Deletepinaka maganda force stop the apps. manually by going to the setting > applications and force stop the apps that you are not using. it can run 36 hours with messaging and limited browsing only. no video play and games.

ReplyDeleteBattery saver apps are useless. :3 dagdag lng po un sa mga running apps, hindi naman sya talaga nakakatulong, I suggest na idisable nyo ung mga bloatwares such as Maps, Email, Streetview, etc. ung mga apps na hindi nyo naman ginagamit, nasa settings un sa applications, tapos tap nyo ung app na ididisable nyo, tapos makikita nyo dun may disable. aun. :) tapos babaan nyo ung brightness ng phone, disconnect nyo din mga wireless connections kung hindi naman ginagamit, Bluetooth, Wifi, Data connection, mga ganon. yan na un.

ReplyDeleteI have been using this phone for two weeks now and no complains. I stumble upon a phone shop around cubao where they display dummy phones of Alcatel. Due to the fact that for two weeks research on avail covers for my soleil failed, I thought of comparing it to other Alcatel mobile phones that might have the same physical specs as that of my soleil. Alcatel inspire 2 struck me most. Soleil and inspire 2 are perfect fit base on my meticulous comparison of both phones. If anyone who encountered same experience pls do confirm.. Tia

ReplyDeletejust got the phone from sun plan 350. i chose the white casing. no memory card included so you have to buy one or use your old card. btw, 30months lock in period ang plan.
ReplyDeleteobservations: since 1GHz ang unit i assumed mabilis ang phone at di naman ako nabigo sa expectations ko, mabilis sya. okay ang response ng lcd. maganda ang graphics ng lcd. mabilis ma low bat. ang camera ay 5MP kaso di magagamit sa dilim since walang flash. daming factory installed apps so i uninstalled some. 4gb ang internal storage.
overall verdict: sulit yun phone for a sun 350 plan but not recommended for unit purchases only.

I just tried na mag unli internet for one day pero napansin ko sobrang bagal ng net. di maka log in sa play store and FB pero sa google search, twitter, and gmail nakakalog in. sobrang bagal ng net talaga.... yun alcatel one touch 918N glory di naman ganyan kabagal. i called the hotline, depende daw sa location. eh dati naman nag surf na ko using another phone pero old model lang bakit yun soleil ang bagal. may binago ba kayo sa settings? i read above na mabilis ang browsing and surfing ng net. pano nyo ginawa? naka edge lang ang connection hindi naka HSDPA

ReplyDeleteFor those experiencing battery drain just couple of hours, don't use video and game to much, I can run it in 36 hours with Messaging ang limited surfing only....first minimize screen brightness, kill all the background apps. manually by force stop by going to the setting Menu > application..hinde kasi effective itong mga battery saver, kaya lang niya patayin ang mga apps for just few minute at bumabalik din.

This is mostly intended for those who want customer reviews about the ALCATEL OT SOLEIL (M'POP) and are trying to decide whether to buy the phone or go for something else.
here goes....
i got my alcatel soleil from suncellular last wednesday at ito mga na-observe ko. i will be very objective kasi never ako naging fan ng any brand ng gadget.
btw, alcatel soleil is also known as alcatel OT m'pop. however, there are different configurations like 5021e, 5020w.
look and feel:
i chose plan 350 sa sun kasi i dont have much sun contacts and i just want to change number and at the same time try a different network and take advantage na rin of the free phone offers.
i was afraid that the soleil would look as ugly as the picture on the sun flyers (yon ba tawag doon? yong mga papel na nakikita sa shops nila).
pero nong nakuha ko na yong phone, i was so glad that it looked way better than i expected. i got the black one. im not sure if there are other colors.
it doesn't look as cheap as it does in the picture sa flyers. in fact, i should say it looks better than my 4-year old samsung omnia. kahit na siguro when my omnia was still new. neither does it feel cheap in your hands. kaya lng, at 8.4 cm wide, medyo hindi ako comfortable sa paghawak niya pero i think masasanay din ako kasi the omnia is smaller and fits more perfectly in my hand at di ko mapigilang i-compare. the grip on the soleil is not ideal although hindi rin naman sya slippery. pero the chances na mag-slip sya sa kamay are higher than smaller phones. kaya advice ko, bili ng protective case/cover.. whatever.
display:
the display is great for its price. better than my omnia and my galaxy note 10.1
crisp, clear but not consistent when you view it from different angles pero hindi naman ganun ka-affected ang experience. wala naman sicuro magbabasa ng text or manunood ng movie at more than 45 degrees na angle. but if you are the type na mahilig magshare sa viewing ng pics and movies, etc. baka di ka maging happy. im not sure if this is scratch resistant and i dont wanna try finding it out. may free naman na screen protector pero di ako magaling maglagay noon. pumalpak ako gaya nong sa galaxy note 10.1 ko kaya tinanggal ko na lng tapos tinapon. nway, the experience is better kung wala added layer sa screen (just my opinion)
bundled accessories/others:
im so disappointed with the length of the cable used for charging and conneting to usb ports. kalahati lng ang length (or baka nga shorter pa) sa playbook charger ko. also, shorter din sya sa cable ng samsung galaxy nte 10.1 ko. i guess may idea na kayo how short it is. for those na may units, im sure we all try to make do with it.
the earphones that come with it, disapointing din for me. bakit: 1) may "bend" (sori di ako makaisip ng term) sa end na ipa-plug mo such that the cord is perpendicular sa phone mo. 2) after the split for the left and right earphones, sobrang magkalayo ang length ng para sa left ng para sa right. tapos wala naman akong makita na button somwhere sa bulk of plastic sa may split ng left/right earphones. earphones lng talaga sya. no volume adjustment no mute. no nothing.
the manual that goes with it is so very unhlepful for someone who reads everything in a manual. (yes, i do read everything in manuals of gadgets i own). buti na lng, mayroon sa phone mismo yong "help" na most of the contents are available kahit offline. but some, kailangan mo mag online.

come one people! dont expect me to say very nice things here. suffice it to say that for what the phone is worth, you cannot expect it to deliver more in terms of camera performance. just be glad na meron sya camera with enough features like 360 degrees shot and panorama. wala burst shots, wala drama shots, wala dual shots. bili kayo ibang phone if you want those features.
as for me. i dont really use the cameras of phones that much. i just wanted it to have one just in case there are really times you need to capture a something (like in my case, posted class skeds/ skeds ng movie sa cinemas.. heheh)
battery:
ito na yong marami akong nababasang negative reviews about this phone that almost made go for a different phone. in my experience, the battery really do last way shorter than my old phone. it has 1400mah (tama ba ung unit of measure) and my omnia has 1440. omnia by the way is a windows phone. neglegible and difference sa measure pero sa acutal experience. my omnia needs recharging every 3-4 days with moderate use. when it was stil new, almost a week. dito ko naiisip na may lamang nga ang windows phone sa android phones. power hungry ang android. yong soleil ko lasted only 30hours and i have to recharge. actually, as im writing this, i am recharging my soleil. may installed na dyan na battery doctor. mukhang gusto kung bumili ng spare battery or power bank siguro.
as far as i can recall, ito yong breakdown ng 30 hours:
14 hours on standby
3 hours games (4pics mostly )
3 hours wifi (browsing only)
30min firmware update via wifi (twice kasi nag undergo kasi nag error just before matapos yong first try)
1 hour wifi with music (youtube)
2.5 hours experimeting/exploring/adjusting settings/readjusting/(admiring? hehehe)
30 minutes trying the camera and voice recorder
30mins copying the contacts from old sim and editing groups (tumagal kasi di ko agad ma gets. not that user friendly.. i'll get to that later.)
15 min radio without the earphones (yup, gumagana radio even without pluggin in the earphones)
the rest of the 30 hours na di ko ma-account, di ko na-maalala.
i did not experience heating up of the battery like some customer reviews say. the charging time is also short, like two and a half hours. careful din ako na huwag pabayaan ang phone na nakaplug for a long time and i normally do not charge my gadgets by leaving it plugged overnight. it's better na safe ka kesa magsisi later.
software/ui:
the user interface is not that great. i loved the interface on my galaxy note. although both are in jellybean, may mga noticeable differences like sa contacts management. about "contacts" the software needs a lot of improvement. way better yong experience ko even sa omnia. even the search option could use a lot of improvement sa soleil. but of course, maybe di lng ako sanay but then again, it have to give credits sa windows phone in terms of OS design. im not saying the apps sa windows are better. kanya-kanya na tayong preference dyan. by the way, i love tha apps on android.
audio:
the loud speaker is at the back of the phone kaya medyo affected yong listening mo sa music. of course, meron earpiece sa harap. alangan namang magdesign ang alcatel ng phone na babaliktarin mo pa kung may kausap ka eh nasa harap naman yong mic. the volume is good enough. better than that in the alcatel glory na para kang nakikinig ng sounds from under a tin can (sori, kung mukhang nasobrahan ang analogy, wala lang ako maisip sa ngayong). the sound quality is okay but as you raise the volume higher, medyo nagiging scratchy depending on the file you play. wag na rin kayo maghanap ng quality bass and treble kasi nga naman, mura lng yong phone. in fact, you can get it free with a 30-month contract.
May burst shot po sya, just HOld po yung camera shutter button sa screen//at may lalabas "7 photos taken" siguro po depende yun sa kung gaano po katagal naHold ung camera.. :)

right now, the only thing that im concerned and cannot be sure of, is how long the phone will last. my omnia is now 4 years old and besides the peeled off glaze, minor screen scratches, diminished battery life and sometimes experienced lags, it still works. as for the soleil, i will have to find out. in short, i dont know how durable this soleil is.
reception is good. i remember that my mother, way back in 2001-2002 used to had an alcatel. it was still analog. it was shaped like a soap (yong may konsensya). she also had a nokia. the nokia cannot connect to any network when she is at her workplace somewhere out of the city limits. but her alcatel did not lose signal. i believe that alcatel makes sure that same reception quality is present in their modern phone and as far as with the soleil, i guess i have to say they certainly did. since dual sim yong alcatel, i put in my globe sim and to my amazement, the globe signal on my alcatel is at its strongest. in my room at home and even in our office. is did a better job than my omnia and the nokia i used to have together with my omnia.
conclusion:
the alcatel soleil is a good phone for its price range. its a cheap phone that doesnt look or feel cheap and can deliver what it is supposed to give you at a price that means "everyone can have it." the experience for some maybe so and so but if you're not the type who can only be satisfied with high-end phones, that should do. if not, there are so many phones that are better but prepare to shell out more. right now, if i have to include the telcos' offerings, i cannot think of a phone in the market that might give more value for your money as long as you're in the market for android phones and not simply for a call/text phone with the occasional mp3/radio feature. it's worth a try for those who are considering it but im not saying you should. weigh your options within your budget range.
